Ann’s writing on Suite101 covers a variety of subjects and reflects what catches her interest. The flavor and tone of her articles is usually objective and fact-based, which is a heritage of her undergraduate degree in Journalism. As a college professor teaching composition, many of her articles are intended for use among faculty or as helping aids for students. And, poetry and poets are a constant thread both in Ann’s reading and writing. Her MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles propelled her to write understandable literary criticism and reviews. Ann also keeps tabs on current events and reports on controversial people and activities. And, as a former publisher and sole proprietor, she delves into issues dealing with the economy.

If your interest lies in environmental or ecological areas, recommended reading here at Suite includes an outline of the UN convention which prohibits government-sponsored environmental modification for hostile use. Or check Ann’s article on the ecological uses of human urine. Don’t waste the waste water! There are also two articles on earthquake activity, one specific to Alaska.

College students and educators have a variety of reading choices, starting with a mini lesson on Getting to the Thesis Statement and including a look at the challenges of the online instructor. A somewhat dismal look at the latest (2009) PISA results is also included here.

Headlines news is another topic that Ann covers, and this includes everything from the still mysterious deaths of birds and fish to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords to the dishonor of Owen Honors.

Last but by no means least, Ann loves to write about her favorite poets including Mary Oliver and Carol Potter, and to join in recognizing the best writers around, such as those nominated for the 2010 National Book Critics Circle Award.

There’s something for everyone here at Suite. Enjoy reading, and if you’d like, follow Ann on Twitter to keep up with her latest articles.
